6.2R in Papua New Guinea.


A powerful 6.2R earthquake has been reported in New Britain Region in Papua New Guinea. The depth of the epicenter was 72 km at the location shown in the map above.
There's no official information on possible damage or injuries.
Papua New Guinea is part of the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, a tectonic fault with high seismic activity, which accounts for about 90 percent of all earthquakes on Earth.
