5.7 magnitude earthquake jolts Arunachal Pradesh, tremors felt in entire Northeast


An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted Northeastern region on Friday, an official said. No casualties have been reported so far.
"The quake occurred at 2.52 p.m. and had its epicentre in Arunachal Pradesh's East Kameng district," a seismologist told IANS.
According to reports, the tremors were felt in Guwahati and others parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and adjoining areas of northeastern region at about 02:53 pm. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
