Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near San Fernando




A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Thursday morning three miles from San Fernando, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:58 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.2 mile.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was five miles from Santa Clarita, 13 miles from Burbank and 13 miles from Castaic.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
